Glucose test! :s

Guess what exciting thing I got to do yesterday?... I bet all of you were thinking the glucose test right? For all you moms or 24-28 weeks pregnant already you know what this test is. But for those of  you nonpregnant or not 24-28 weeks pregnant yet may not be aware of what it is. The glucose test is performed by drinking this YUMMY orange drink followed by a blood test an hour later. The test is to make sure you haven't developed gestational diabetes during your pregnancy. Although the blood test may not be 100% accurate, so if the blood test reveals any sign of gestational diabetes your doctor will do further testing.
As I've gotten many different reviews from my fellow pregnant friends about this drink, I didn't know who to believe. Will it really taste like orange soda or will it tastes like some bad orange citrix flavored water. Not knowing what to expect I went all prepared. I brought with me a snack, a straw and I made sure my Iphone was charged for my hour wait. But little did I know that once you drink it there was no eating until the blood test was performed. :( But my straw was very useful/helpful. I recommend to all of you who have to take it in the near future to bring one with you. Instead of trying to gulp down that orange looking thing, I found it was easier to take a few big gulps from the straw. I didn't find the test all that bad, but it wasn't orange soda. And heads up it can make your throat burn and a little nauseous after, or maybe that was just me? But I was very very grateful that I didn't have to perform this earlier on in my pregnancy...... Can you imagine women in the first trimester trying to do this... That wouldnt work out so well!! :s
As I spent my hour waiting I enjoyed it on Facebook, Instagram and texting. But you can be more creative and bring a book, magazine or whatever will help you with past the time. Some doctors may even give you the drink at your previous appointment, so you can spend your hour in the comfort of your home. But set a timer to make sure you're at the doctor by an hour because the blood test is time sensitive.
Good luck to those of you will be performing the test in the near future!

This what the drink looks like! check out my pretty straw :)
