Glucose test! :s

Guess what exciting thing I got to do yesterday?... I bet all of you were thinking the glucose test right? For all you moms or 24-28 weeks pregnant already you know what this test is. But for those of  you nonpregnant or not 24-28 weeks pregnant yet may not be aware of what it is. The glucose test is performed by drinking this YUMMY orange drink followed by a blood test an hour later. The test is to make sure you haven't developed gestational diabetes during your pregnancy. Although the blood test may not be 100% accurate, so if the blood test reveals any sign of gestational diabetes your doctor will do further testing.
As I've gotten many different reviews from my fellow pregnant friends about this drink, I didn't know who to believe. Will it really taste like orange soda or will it tastes like some bad orange citrix flavored water. Not knowing what to expect I went all prepared. I brought with me a snack, a straw and I made sure my Iphone was charged for my hour wait. But little did I know that once you drink it there was no eating until the blood test was performed. :( But my straw was very useful/helpful. I recommend to all of you who have to take it in the near future to bring one with you. Instead of trying to gulp down that orange looking thing, I found it was easier to take a few big gulps from the straw. I didn't find the test all that bad, but it wasn't orange soda. And heads up it can make your throat burn and a little nauseous after, or maybe that was just me? But I was very very grateful that I didn't have to perform this earlier on in my pregnancy...... Can you imagine women in the first trimester trying to do this... That wouldnt work out so well!! :s
As I spent my hour waiting I enjoyed it on Facebook, Instagram and texting. But you can be more creative and bring a book, magazine or whatever will help you with past the time. Some doctors may even give you the drink at your previous appointment, so you can spend your hour in the comfort of your home. But set a timer to make sure you're at the doctor by an hour because the blood test is time sensitive.
Good luck to those of you will be performing the test in the near future!

This what the drink looks like! check out my pretty straw :)

I will be heading to the Big City Moms biggest baby shower tonight and can not wait to share with you my experience!! http://babyshower.bigcitymoms.com/BCMBabyShowerDetails.html

What happened to summer?

When I woke up for my third wake up call in the middle of my sleep it was around 5:45 am. I looked out the window and thought I was still sleeping the white things falling from the sky couldn't have been snow?! As I was trying to fall back to sleep all I can think of is how time had flown and where has summer gone? Trying to remember what I did this summer I suddenly remembered how I did absolutely nothing.... depressing huh?
My spring ended with exciting news that I was pregnant. But the exciting news turned very quickly into weeks and weeks laying in bed waiting for the first trimester to be over. As I was waiting for my morning sickness to pass, I was also sleeping away those good summer days!
I don't know if I can say I had it worse then most people but from my own point of view I had it pretty bad. I literally slept every day, all day! Refusing to leave my bedroom because that oh so awful smell my kitchen had, no matter how many times the cleaning lady cleaned it, it just had a food smell that just didn't work well with me! I have no idea what my husband ate or did for that matter this summer. I didn't let anything be cook, fried or baked in my kitchen. Anything he wanted to eat he had to get else where. My diet didn't consist of anything my kitchen was needed for. All I ate was watermelon and gluten free pretzels and occasional toast (I have an allergy to gluten) watermelon was to keep me hydrated and pretzels was to try and help me get those few minutes of nausea free moments. As you can tell from the amount of food I ate the pounds started to come off (I lost 12 pounds!) But don't worry my doctor told me it was all normal and my baby was fine going through this with me! So I guess the way I handled moring sickness was by sleeping, crying, gagging and many other unpleasnt thing and just waited and waited for it to have past and it finally did at 4 1/2 months!
My summer came and went and now its almost winter. Or can we call it winter since the weather seems to have decided it is already? So bundle up and lets hope the cold winter will come and go as fast as it can!

I am so excited!!

I'm so excited to be starting this blog and to share with you my journey 2 motherhood!
Let me start off by telling you a little about myself and why I started this blog!
For staters my name is Chumy Herman and I'm pregnant with my first! :)
I am 26 weeks pregnant and I can not wait to meet my little one! :)
I am one of 12 siblings and me and my twin sister are the babies of the family! We are 8 girls and 4 boys!
My sisters have made it so much easier and so much more fun to go through this journey. And I have lots of stories to tell. I'll probably mention my sisters a lot in my posts, so this a a fair warning to my loving sisters :)
xoxo love you all
I started this blog because ever since I became pregnant my world has completely turned upside down! In SOO many ways for the good. But for those of you who experienced pregancy before knows its not all that glorious at times. So what I would like out of my blog is to tell the truth, the good and the not all that good about the pregancy journey! I found some great ways for me to cope with all that pregancy has to offer! One way was by talking about it, so I'm hear to express with you all my lovely emotions my pregnancy has given me.
Another way I found helpful was reading/researching about pregnancy and what I should expect from it. So me, Google and my book 'what to expect when your expecting' have been really tight friends through this journey! I cant wait for all of you to continue on this journey with me!!
